The Civil Engineering Department at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, successfully hosted an Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) meeting on Thursday, 29th August, at 12:00 PM. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Noor M. Khan, Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering, and was was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. The event was organized and facilitated by Dr. Wasim Abbass, Associate Professor and Secretary of the IAB.
The primary focus of the meeting was to enhance collaboration between industry and academia, align the curriculum with the guidelines of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and better meet industry needs. Discussions also emphasized strengthening internship and job placement opportunities for students. Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq underscored the importance of integrating practical industry insights into academic programs, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their professional careers. Prof. Dr. Noor M. Khan acknowledged the significant contributions of industry partners and encouraged their continued engagement to keep academic programs relevant and up-to-date.
The board members and industry representatives offered valuable insights that will guide the department’s strategic direction. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to work closely with industry stakeholders to benefit both the students and the institution.
