The Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore, arranged a book launching ceremony for the book titled “An Introduction to Matrix Methods of Structural Analysis” by Prof. Dr. Akram Tahir on Monday, May 26, 2025. Prof. Tahir is a former professor and alumnus of the Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore. Worthy vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, was the chief guest of the ceremony. Prof. Zia ud Din Mian, Prof. Ahmed Saeed Sheikh, and the chairpersons of several departments of UET, Lahore, attended the ceremony. The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Engr. Usman Ali. Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Khan, chairman Civil Engineering Department, delivered opening remarks and introduced the author and the book. Book reviews by several foreign faculty members and experts were presented at the ceremony. The reviewers included Dr. Naveed Anwar, Founder and CEO of CSI Bangkok, Thailand; Ms. Rabiya Mukhtar, Senior Advisor and Research Officer, Asian Development Bank, Thailand; Dr. Adeeba Abdul Raheem, Associate Professor, Civil Engineering Department, The University of Texas at El Paso, USA; and Prof. Dr. Salman Azhar, Chair, PhD and Master Programs in Building Construction, McWhorter School of Building Science, Auburn University, USA. From the audience, Prof. Dr. Burhan Sharif shared his thoughts about the book.
The author of the book, Prof. Dr. Akram Tahir, also spoke to the audience and shared his inspiring journey to achieve this major milestone in his life. Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, delivered concluding remarks and appreciated the efforts of the author in writing such a great book. He also appreciated the efforts of the Civil Engineering Department in organizing such a graceful book launch ceremony. In the end, worthy vice chancellor inaugurated the book and presented a shield to the author. The event was attended by a large number of faculty members from various departments of UET Lahore and guests from other universities as well.
