Department of Civil Engineering, UET, Lahore organized 16th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering (16ICGE) in collaboration with Pakistan Geotechnical Engineering Society (PGES) which is an elite-body of professional geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists of Pakistan on December 7-8, 2022. Prof. Dr. Ikuo Towhata an eminent Geotech expert, Professor Emeritus University of Tokyo was the Chief Guest.
PGES President Engr. Amjad Agha, who is a renowned geotechnical and Dams expert of Pakistan, delivered the welcome address in the Inaugural Session. He highlighted the importance of geotechnical profession and the role of PGES in disseminating the geotechnical knowledge to the professionals in Pakistan ever since its establishment back in 1973. Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar and Chairman Department of Civil Engineering & Conference organization committee thanked PGES for organizing such a mega event at UET Lahore.
Five Keynote Lectures were delivered by senior international experts and thirty original research papers of high quality were presented by their authors in the five Technical Sessions in two days.
The Conference was a big session, over 400 engineers, geologists and allied professionals actively participated in it. A number of World renowned experts from USA, Japan, Australia and Kazakhstan also attended. President of International Society of Geotechnical Engineering Society Dr. Marc Ballouz from USA presented introduction to the International Geotechnical Society.
