Seminar on Environment, Health and Safety

The Civil Engineering Department recently organized a seminar entitled “Environment, Health, and Safety,” featuring Prof. Dr. Naveed Ramzan, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical, Metallurgical, and Polymer Engineering, as the distinguished speaker. Leading the event, Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq, Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guest and presented him with a bouquet as a token of appreciation.

During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Naveed Ramzan delivered an insightful discourse on various aspects concerning environmental preservation, occupational health, and safety. He commenced by elucidating key terminologies encompassing health, safety, welfare, hazards, safety signage, and risk, among others. In meticulous detail, he explored diverse categories of hazards, including physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychological hazards. Furthermore, he expounded upon methods for identifying various types of hazards and assessing the associated risks. The speaker also elucidated the General Control Hierarchy (ERIC DP), an effective framework for managing hazards. Following the presentation, an engaging question and answer session provided attendees with the opportunity for further clarification and discussion.
