Guest Lecture on Practical Aspects of Steel Structures Design by Engr. Masoom Khan

As part of the Design of Steel and Composite Structures course in the MSc Structural Engineering program at the Department of Civil Engineering, we regularly invite experts in Steel Structures Design to deliver lectures on the ‘Practical Aspects of Analysis and Design of Steel Structures.’ This year, on November 27, 2024, we had the privilege of hosting Engr. Masoom Khan, Senior Engineer Civil and Structural at ILF Consulting Engineers (and former Design Engineer at Izhar Engineering), for an engaging and insightful session.
During the lecture, Engr. Masoom Khan shared his expertise on the practical implementation of steel structure design, with a particular emphasis on the critical role of steel connections in local projects. The session fostered active participation from our MSc students, who enthusiastically asked questions and gained valuable insights into real-world design challenges. In addition to technical discussions, Mr. Khan also touched upon professional growth and career development as a structural engineer specializing in steel structures.
The session was highly appreciated by students and faculty alike, providing a meaningful and enriching learning experience. We sincerely thank Engr. Masoom Khan for his generosity in sharing his knowledge and expertise with our graduate students and for contributing to their academic and professional development.
