Distinguished alumni from the Session of 1998 visited the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, on Sunday, December 28, for a cordial get-together.
The visiting alumni included Engr. Sohail Hanif (Director, Asian Consulting Engineers), Engr. Ali Nawaz Khan (Director, Engineering Axis), Engr. Mirza Inam-ul-Haq (Director Building, LDA), Engr. Danish Siddique (Director, Sinaco Engineers), Engr. Haji Ahmad (Hydraulic Expert, RHC), Engr. Zeeshan Bilal (Director, WASA Lahore), and Engr. Jawad Amjab Gauri (Principal Engineer, Amey Consulting, UK).
The visit was coordinated by Dr. Rizwan Azam, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, who briefed the alumni on recent improvements in departmental facilities. He highlighted the establishment of an endowment fund for the department, initiated with the generous support of alumni. In addition, he presented recent enhancements in student facilities made possible through alumni contributions and explained how alumni input is actively incorporated into curriculum development and other academic-related decisions.
During the visit, the alumni toured the classrooms and drawing halls, fondly recalling memories of their student life. They also visited the department library, seminar hall, and staff room.
The alumni appreciated the department’s recent initiatives to enhance student facilities, particularly those enabled through alumni support. They shared valuable suggestions for strengthening industry–academia collaboration and expressed strong willingness to continue supporting the department, especially with regard to the endowment fund and other ongoing and future initiatives.
