Ph.D. Thesis Defense of Dr. Ubaid Ahmad Mughal: Investigating Torsion in Confined Masonry Structures

The Ph.D. thesis defense Examination of Engr. Ubaid Ahmad Mughal, Department of Civil Engineering, UET Lahore was successfully held at the Conference Hall (C-3) of Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore on 22-9-2023 at 11:00 AM. He presented his research findings through a seminar in public forum session, followed by Viva-Voce examination by the Examination Committee. The research topic of Mr. Ubaid was “Investigation of Torsion In Confined Masonry Structure With Openings” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asad Ullah Qazi, Head of Structures Division, Department of Civil Engineering, UET Lahore. His Ph.D. research thesis was evaluated from Five International and National Reviewers from USA, UK, Australia and Pakistan. Dr. Ubaid A. Mughal is serving as lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, UET Lahore and has an impressive track record of publishing eight (08) research papers in reputable national and international journals.
His research work included the mitigation of torsion generated due to the presence of the asymmetric openings in confined masonry structures. The research is useful for the practicing engineers and architects to forecast the stiffness reduction in confined masonry structures having openings and ultimately saving the loss of life and property.
A very best of luck to him for his future endeavors.
