Civil Engineering Department arranged a seminar titled “Causes of 2022 Floods, Preparedness, and Post-flood Relief Activities” on Wednesday, 5th October 2022. The guest speaker of the event was Engr. Shahid Hameed, Advisor (Hydrology & Water Management), Water and Power Development Authority, Lahore. Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq, Chairman Civil Engineering Department welcomed the guest and presented him with a bouquet. Engr. Shahid Hameed is a graduate of the Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore. He got his master’s in Civil Engineering from UET Lahore and master’s in Infrastructure Planning from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He has worked on a large number of mega projects at the national level.
The guest explained the causes of the 2022 floods in Pakistan and discussed the role of WAPDA during that flood events. Faculty members and a large number of students attended the seminar. In the end, Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman and Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq presented a shield and certificate to the guest.
