Seminar on How to Minimize Flood Damages in Pakistan

Civil Engineering Department arranged a seminar titled “How to Minimize Flood Damages in Pakistan” on Wednesday, 19th October 2022. The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Bagh Ali Shahid. He served in Irrigation and Power Department for thirty-six years and retired as a Chief Engineer. He did his B.Sc in Civil Engineering from UET Lahore, M.Sc in Irrigation Engineering from the Institute of Agronomic and Mediterranean Studies (IAM), Italy, and Ph.D. in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering from Idaho University, USA.
Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq, Chairman Civil Engineering Department welcomed the guest and presented him with a bouquet. The guest talked about the history of floods in Pakistan, flood damages due to the 2022 floods, the impact of climate change on floods, various causes of floods, institutions involved in flood management and their performance.
There was a detailed question-answer session after the presentation. Faculty members and a large number of students attended the seminar. In the end, Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman and Prof. Dr. Khalid Farooq presented a shield to the guest.
